How quickly will you contact me?

Answer:

Once we have your information, we’ll call you back within 10 minutes. However, it is essential you provide as much accurate information about your current situation as possible on the contact form so we have a clear picture of your circumstances.

Is there someone who can come to the repossession hearing with me?

Answer:

Attending a court hearing can be a daunting prospect, but don’t worry, we’ll be with you every step of the way. After looking into your situation and preparing your case, you’ll be accompanied by one of our skilled legal advocates who are specialists in repossession hearings. You can be assured your interests will be protected and your case handled professionally.

Can repossession be stopped at any time?

Answer:

Yes it can, with the last chance being the date of the eviction. It is essential, however, that you contact us as soon as you realise you are in financial difficulties so we can stop things getting that far. The threat of repossession will place a huge amount of pressure and stress on you and your family, which is why we urge you to seek help immediately. The sooner you call us, the sooner the situation can be resolved.

Should I take out an unsecured load to pay off my arrears?

Answer:

Taking out a loan to clear your mortgage arrears may sound like the perfect solution, but it is likely to worsen your financial situation. Frequently, because these loans are unsecured, they are at a high rate of interest, compounding your repayment problems. Taking on an additional debt will increase your outgoings and place more strain on you and your family. Before doing anything, get in touch with us and tell us about your situation. We’ll then work with you and your lenders to come up with a workable and sustainable solution.

Should my mortgage take priority over my other unsecured debts?

Answer:

Yes. Although it is tempting to clear unsecured debts first, mainly because of the often aggressive collection tactics such lenders use, any debt that’s secured by your home must be your priority. Call us immediately, and we’ll take a look at your situation and advise you on how much to offer your unsecured creditors, whilst keeping your mortgage lender happy.

I'm being evicted tommorow. Can you still help me?

Answer:

Whilst not an ideal situation, yes we can still help you, but it’s essential you contact us immediately. In the past we have been able to stop evictions in as little as 30 minutes, but the more time you give us to act on your behalf the better the chance of making your case and helping you stay in your home.

I'm in arrears and can't see a way out. Should I just hand over my keys?

Answer:

Handing over your keys is called voluntary repossession. Although it may seem like a good solution, you will still remain liable for your mortgage payments, arrears, insurances, maintenance and repair costs until your home is sold. Once sold, if there is not enough money to repay what you owe, your mortgage lender can still pursue you for the shortfall for 12 years (5 in Scotland). If you are not in a position to offer a proposal to your lender, we urge you to get in touch with us so our advisor's can talk to you about personal insolvency and bankruptcy to protect your future financial security.
